Every winter, the Skrei cod swims over 1,000km (600 miles) from the nutrient-rich Barents Sea all the way to the Norwegian coast to spawn. During this great migration, the Skrei cod develops an exceptionally large muscle structure, which contributes to its firm texture, bright white flesh and characteristic winter quality.
